Sh200 Million Bribe, Supreme Court of Kenya And the Supreme Bribe

If it is supreme, it should be beyond reproach. If it is supreme, it should attract respect, adoration and love.
If it is indeed supreme, it should exude warmth, confidence and acceptability.

The Supreme Court of Kenya is facing the biggest test of its short life and which, if it fails to pass, it will totally erode the trust any Kenyan still has on it.

The alleged Sh200 million bribe could be the one straw that broke the camel’s back.
The perception is that the supreme Sh200 million, if indeed was dished out, was not for one. That, it could have been for many.

The Supreme Court’s reputation is at stake here. And an injury to a reputation is one wound that takes a whole lot of time to heal, if at all it heals. Some people have never forgiven this court for closing the door to the admission of some extra evidence when they contested the presidential election three years ago.

Reputation-wise, this Court has not been doing well since 2013 and such a monumental accusation like this is only bound to make things worse. For instance, if the accusations are proved, the court will be dead and buried. And forgotten.

The speed at which CJ Willy Mutunga took up this matter is commendable but what will be satisfactory is the speed at which the investigations are done and what actions taken thereafter. Concerns are flaring up already that a Judiciary investigating itself can never bring forth anything tangible. Or, would never really go hard on one of its straying sheep.

Those concerns should be addressed sooner than later before people decide not to believe any outcome of the internal investigations.

When black dots appear on the white linen the best thing to do is to wash it to regain its former glory. Of course, it is not that straightforward and you cannot just wash away this matter plus its protagonists but you can set up a fool proof process to establish the facts.

Supreme beings are normally respected and adored because of the belief that they possess special abilities, are fair and perfect.
If you are supreme, behave like you are supreme. Especially, if you are a Supreme Court judge.

Hello Cover for Our KDF: Our Dear KDF Soldiers, Can You Hear Me?

Hello, hello, hellooo, our dear soldiers
I was wondering if I could get your ears
The last one week you have suffered so much, a lot unlike in past years
They say time heals but this one the militants seem to be getting stronger
Every now and then we hear you are falling back beaten, weaker
Hello

Hello KDF can you hear me?

We are in Nairobi trying to figure out how much you are going through in Somalia
When you had just entered there five years ago, younger, eager, no fear
You said you were gonna destroy the enemy within a short time and endear
Us to your Operation Linda Nchi but the world seems to have fallen on your feet
There is a big difference between our hopes and the reality seeing your feat
Hello

Their wives, daughters, sons, mothers and fathers must have called a thousand times
To ask what happened to their dear children facing the enemy, please hear their cries
But when they call you seem not to be home or near your phone, which side of the dice
Should they expect, the coffin or their happy faces returning home after heavy fire?
Hello our dear commanders please talk to the suffering families before they retire
Their hopes to fate, forget their faith and accept the pain from that empire
Hello

It’s so typical of us to be cynical and forget the reason why you went there
We are sorry but in a combat you must tell us what you have achieved instead of bare
Stories that do not give us any hope of you winning that war but fears of losing, we stare
We hope that you are well, did you ever make it out of the place where you got hit in El Adde?

Hello from the other side of the heart
They must have called a thousand times to tell you they want you back
But when they call you seem not pick the phone but they are not done
Please do not break their hearts, please come back
They can’t take this anymore, anymore
Hello
Hello KDF can you hear me?

Eurobond This, Eurobond That: The Innocent, the Guilty and the Damn Ignorant.

The Innocent
Even seen how innocent a nursery school kid is? You know, you ask them what schooling is all about and they look at you with dry eyes, wet nose and say nothing. And ask for a slice of bread instead.

Or, have you ever enjoyed watching those top KCPE candidates hallucinate about how they want to become orthopaedics, neurosurgeons, aeronautical engineers etc. It's not bad to dream but do you always feel their innocence? The innocence of not knowing how tumultuous life is and that, even with such high-flying dreams one can easily become a tout or a hand-cart puller if they missed one step somewhere after primary school?

If you understand that, then you will honestly forgive that common man who sits all day under the hot sun or the piercing cold to listen to politicians tire them with Eurobond jargons without bothering to simplify the term itself.

Spare a thought for the innocent people in the villages who now have to contend with the pain of having to listen to their leaders endlessly spit things about Eurobond.

Don't forget to also spare a moment for some politicians who really don't know anything about this Eurobond thing but they are being forced by their masters to defend them; have lost count of politicians who really don't know anything about this matter. Nonetheless, have already spared a moment for them though. For the innocent at home, school, in the streets, please say a little prayer for them.

The Damn Ignorant
Have you even been to a place where you are so lost you questioned your state of mind?
That state where you just wished an angel appeared and got you back to life, sorry, got you back to consciousness.

That state where you just want to be let live without the avalanche of figures that are not only difficult to decipher but mutating every minute.

Eurobond has really exposed some people's amazing ignorance on money matters.
You know, you ask them what Eurobond is all about and they look straight into your eye and say "ni siasa brother. Hii ni siasa ya 2017."

Okey, that could pass, but it's only fair to tell us how and where the money has been used.
But even when the guys who know about this are constantly confusing us with figures, who are we not to just sit, while and be ignorant by choice? You ask.

I mean the contestant says this today, the Treasury responds with one figure. Again, that contestant gives a different figure but with the same argument, the Treasury responds with a different statement but the same argument.
What is happening here? You ask.
Your ignorance is forgiven.

Oh, and The Guilty
They know themselves.
Sh250 billion can't just be dropped from the skies and you fail to see the effect it has had on the economy.

If you cut a similar figure from the Sh2 trillion 2015/16 budget, you have to be ready for monumental strikes by teachers, doctors, nurses, messengers and everyone. Nothing will balance.

During the making of the budget last year, the Treasury was sobbing all day when the Senate added Sh7 billion to the counties' kitty. The guys there said the addition would have serious ramifications on the economy’s already-established plan for the year.

And you tell us Sh250 billion got no effect? Come on. This figure is not small. It's not like Sh250, 000 for goodness sake.

Spare a thought for the guilty for they have fallen short of the glory of thievery.
